jm-4125-11People who have bought patio heaters have benefited a lot from them as it has made outdoor heating so much easier and safer whether it is at their backyard or their patio. From electric heaters to propane outdoor heaters, the choice is yours when buying these heaters. The first rule when buying heaters is that each heater that you purchase requires a bit of work in terms of maintaining the quality of its outdoor heating.

Maintaining the heater can ensure that it stays in good condition for loner and you can also avoid potentially hazardous situations.
For an electric heater, be prepared to pay more for your electricity bills. If your electric heater is not maintained properly, it will consume much more electricity than it’s supposed to as it ages. The case is the same for a lot of electrical appliances that are not maintained properly. Keep it maintained monthly as it not only will save you in bills, but it will keep running for longer and smoother.

The thing is, maintaining your patio heater isn’t hard. All it needs it a little bit of effort from your heart. First thing to do is to regularly check your heater for any cracks, rusting or any loose parts such as screws, wires, or bolts. An open wire may cause fires or electric shocks. Loose parts are also just as dangerous. Another thing to look into your patio heaters is that no dirt is built up near your machine’s heat source. Clogging from cobwebs can make it dangerous and instead of doing it yourself, it is best to get the technician of the service center personnel to come and clean your heater’s current route.

On your part to keep the heater clean, dust it occasionally with a soft brush or dry cloth. If you are doing this, turn the heater off to avoid any accidents. You can even use a small vacuum cleaner. If you want to use water and cleaning solution, do this to only the base of the heater.  Cleaning your patio heater regularly can avoid it from being clogged from unnecessary dust and dirt such as dustballs and leaves, weed and grass blades.

To keep your electric heater running smoothly and at its optimum level, give it a check at least once every year. Most companies and manufacturers as well as patio furniture companies offer this service of maintenance. Before attempting to clean your patio heater, read the manual that it came with as it will tell you proper cleaning methods as well as alert you on sharp metal parts on the heater. Reading the manual will save you the hassle and trouble as well as avoid any carelessness and accidents such as fires.

Keep your patio heaters away from walkways and wicker patio furniture. Furniture and walkways is like a hazard waiting to happen. Walkways are never to be obstructed by anything that can cause tripping or a fall as this can be dangerous to kids who love running around as well as adults and those who have mobility issues such as people with wheelchairs and walking aids.

Keep highly flammable solutions such as gasoline, liquefied petroleum gas, paint thinner, and kerosene away from your heater as this can ignite a fire. Backyard items and patio furniture such as outdoor cushions and table covers should also be kept away. Cloth can catch fire easily so keep this away from your heater. Your heater should be situated at a place where it is not obstructive and in a secluded corner, that is far enough to avoid any accidents but close enough to fell the heat.

Patio heaters are also not meant to be placed under or near patio umbrellas. Keep these two items at separate corners of your patio. A non-waterproof heater is no reason to keep it under the umbrella. What you can do to protect your heater from rain is by covering it up with a recommended cover. Or else, a better option would be to shop for a waterproof and windproof outdoor heaters, which can save you from the unnecessary trouble.

By taking these necessary but small efforts for your patio heater, you can definitely look forward to a more comfortable patio experience during the cold night. Invest in a good outdoor heater for your patio or backyard, restaurant or pub so that you can be sure your guests are comfortable and you would be having the peace of mind that everything is going well.
